Nurse Clinics
Asthma & Chronic Bronchitis (COPD) Clinics:
These are run by the Practice Nursing team who will discuss
in detail asthma or COPD and its management with sufferers.
If your asthma or COPD is well controlled you should attend
this clinic annually for a review and you will be sent an
invitation for this. However you may book for these clinics
if you feel that your condition has worsened at any time.
Hypertension Clinics:
Run by the Practice Nursing team for people with high blood
pressure who are on medication & for those whose blood
pressure is well controlled.
Patients are generally seen every 6 months.
The Practice Nursing team will also monitor those patients
being diagnosed with high blood pressure. Patients receive a
basic examination, some tests & advice on how to reduce
their risk of high blood pressure, also what treatment &
ongoing monitoring usually involves.
Cardiovascular Disease Clinics:
These are run by the Practice Nursing team for people who
have had, or who at high risk of vascular disease (angina, a
heart attack, a stroke, blockage of leg arteries or related
illnesses). Patients receive ongoing monitoring, some tests
& advice on how to reduce their risk of further vascular
disease. Patients are generally seen every 6 months or
annually.
Smoking Cessation:
Our practice nurses are very successful in helping patients
to stop smoking. We offer dedicated one to one support and
can prescribe nicotine replacement therapy and tablets to
help you stop smoking.
Please book and appointment at reception.
The PCT also run a good smoking cessation service to which
you can self refer by phoning 0800 085 2299.
Weight Management:
Maxine Hardy our Health Care Assistant runs a one to one
service to support patients who need to lose weight. She is
trained in advising about diet, exercise and other
strategies for weight loss. If you would like to take
advantage of this service please ask at reception.
