DR GEORGE'S MATERNITY LEAVE

Some of you may have noticed that Dr George is pregnant. She will be away from surgery for a few months from 1st August 2009. We have arranged cover during her maternity leave.

DR COTTRELL

We are sad to be losing Dr Cottrell who is leaving to spend more time with her family. She will be leaving at the end of July. We are pleased to welcome Dr Geeson who will be starting at the surgery on 18th August 2009.

NURSE CAROL GAVINS

Carol has moved to a different post nearer to her home. We were very sad to see her go and wish her all the best in her new post. We have advertised for a replacement practice nurse.

JUNE 2009

NEW DOCTOR

We are delighted to have appointed a new full-time Partner. Dr C Shell. She started working at Blue Dykes on June 1st 2009. Some of you may have met her already as she did a few locum GP sessions for us earlier in the year.

BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION

Doctor John Mann, senior partner of Blue Dykes Surgery, receiving a defibrillator from Dennis Needham, Chairman and In Memorium Secretary of the Clay Cross Branch of the British Heart Foundation.

MISSED APPOINTMENTS

People making appointments and then failing to turn up is becoming a big problem for us. In the past few weeks we have lost at least a day of appointments every single week.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT PLEASE RING TO CANCEL.

The problem has got so bad with some repeat offenders that we may have no choice but to ask these individuals to find themselves a new surgery to register with as they are significantly compromising the service available for other patients.

INR CLINICS

Those of you taking Warfarin may have noticed we have changed the way we test your INR. The testing is now done as a fingerprick blood test and the result is available straight away. We hope this new service will be more convenient and safer for patients.

AUTOMATED APPOINTMENT BOOKING

The telephone system enables routine advance GP appointments with our regular doctors to be booked 24 hours a day without needing to speak to a receptionist. Please be aware that urgent appointments and short notice appointments are not offered on this system, it is for routine advance appointments (i.e. the appointment may not be within the next few days). If you need to see the GP sooner than this please speak to a receptionist during normal opening hours.
