Appointments
We provide approximately 550 routine appointments with the
doctors each week. We provide additional appointments for
urgent problems meaning that on average we offer over 600
appointments each week with the doctors. The nurses also see
patients every day.
Advance Booking
We have changed our appointments system to
allow greater flexibility for patients. We now have half of
our appointments which can be booked up to 1 month in
advance and half which can be booked on the day. There is
also the triage system for advice or urgent medical problems
(see below).
Urgent Medical Problems
Every day we have an “on-call” GP who deals with emergencies
and urgent medical problems which cannot wait until the next
routine appointment.
If you have an urgent problem the receptionist will take
your telephone number and arrange for the on-call GP or the
triage nurse to phone you back. They will then be able to
offer you telephone advice or an appropriate appointment on
that day.
Please note we will always endeavour to see
urgent problems on the day but you will always have to speak
to the triage nurse or on-call GP. If you arrive at the
surgery without an appointment but need to be seen urgently
we will attempt to see you that day but you may have to
wait. It is usually better to speak to the on-call Gp or
triage nurse so a designated appointment time can be given
to you.
